Any gamer invested in his or her or setup should have one of these in their arsenal, especially with how affordable they’ve become. We’ve compiled a list of our top five favorite 4K gaming monitors for 2017. Follow along below.

ASUS ROG Swift 27-Inch

This monitor has exceptional refresh rates, running at 144Hz. It has a neat feature that many already familiar with: NVIDIA G-SYNC. This reduces screen tear to maximize the amount of realism you can get out of this monitor. This display has a large resolution at 3,840 x 2,160, providing you with unprecedented detail in whatever game you’re playing, whether that be the beautiful sunrise you found in Elder Scrolls Online or exploring a vast forest in Call of Duty: Ghosts. This monitor makes everything look amazing.

The ASUS ROG Swift has many bells and whistles, including two DisplayPort 1.4 slots and one HDMI port, which supports 4K UHD playback. To put the icing on the cake, there are options for multiple way to setup your monitor in order to make the most comfortable experience. It’s maneuverable stand allows you to tilt the screen, pivot the screen or simply change its height. It also comes as ready to be wall mounted. All in all, this monitor is great for dedicated and new gamers alike that want to bring a little more flair to their gaming experience.

Samsung U28E590D 28-Inch

This particular Samsung monitor work very well and looks good in any game. I use it in my personal gaming setup, and can tell you that you won’t be missing out on any detail with this display.

Unfortunately, this model doesn’t have the maneuverability of the previous, but it still has multiple features that puts it ahead of the game. One of those features is a multitask ability, dividing your display up into two screens so that you can work on the left screen and watch TV or a movie on the right.

Philip Brilliance 40-Inch Gaming Monitor

This massive 40-inch monitor is so big that you don’t actually need a second or third monitor in your setup. However, because of how large it is, there’s no maneuverability like the ASUS option, as that would simply make the monitor unstable and possibly fall over. However, it does come with a wall mount if you want to put it in a more aerial position.

To top all that off, the Philip Brilliance comes with built-in speakers. There is a slight downside to this, as the bass is shallow and doesn’t give that rumbling feeling during a firefight. All in all, I’d say this is a great package. You can’t go wrong with 40-inches of amazing 4K 3,840 x 2,160p gameplay.

Samsung C27F591 27-Inch Curved Monitors

Samsung’s 27-inch C27F591 is a fan-favorite thanks to its curved display. It gives it more of a immersive feel that you wouldn’t get otherwise. It comes equipped with built-in 5-watt stereo speakers that give off a beautiful and rich sound not usually seen in monitors

The Eye Saver mode turns down the blue light emission and flickers so that your eyes don’t feel as fatigued or strained from long amounts of time reading documents or playing games at night.

To put the icing on the cake, this monitor has AMD Freesync (basically the same thing as NVIDIA’s G-Sync), giving you a smooth as butter image quality, even during fast-paced gaming sessions in Call of Duty.

Dell U Series 27-Inch

This monitor looks excellent because of its ultra-thin bezels. This makes it the perfect candidate to create a multiple-monitor setup. Dell has also put HDR technology in this monitor, putting together clarity and high-contrast shades to make seemingly realistic visuals. It comes with amount for maneuverability, allowing you to swivel or pivot this monitor in whatever direction you feel is best for you. The ultra-thin bezels are the number one reason to buy this monitor if you’re in the market for creating a dual-display (or more) setup.

Our Take

When it comes down to it, all of these monitors are great. However, a personal favorite is the Samsung C27F591 because of the curved display. This gives it more of an immersive realistic feel, and with the AMD Freesync technology, you get a gorgeous and smooth picture, even in gameplay where there’s a lot happening at once. You just can’t go wrong with the Samsung C27F591.
