So you’re trying out what AMD and its new Ryzen chips have to offer — you’ve picked up a Ryzen 7 2500X and a proper motherboard to go with it. However, there’s still one more component that you need to make this work: an air CPU cooler. Without one, your processor won’t work. Try to power on your computer, and within seconds, the CPU will shut it down to save itself and other components, such as the motherboard itself, from being destroyed due to heat. But, with a high quality air CPU cooler, your 2500X will be able to run cool and even operate under heavy loads without a hitch.
Not sure what the best air CPU coolers for Ryzen 2500X are, or even which ones go with the processor? We’re showing you five of our top picks below. Let’s dive right in!
Noctua 14cm U-Series Single Tower CPU Cooler
Fifth up on our list, we’re looking at the Noctua 14cm U-Series Single Tower CPU Cooler. If you’re looking for a monster of a CPU cooler, this one will be right up your alley. Set this one over top of your processor, mount it to the motherboard, and it’ll keep your Ryzen 2500X cool without any problems. You can put the 2500X through its paces, doing things like overclocking, high-end gaming, and hefty video editing. It is worth noting that this CPU cooler is massive — it’s a whole 150mm in size. As the name implies, it’s designed for tower computers, so you might have difficulty making this one work in smaller PC setups.
Cooler Master Hyper 212
Don’t want to break the bank over a CPU cooler? Then the Cooler Master Hyper 212 will be right up your alley. This is one of the more popular options on the market right now, no doubt due to its budget level pricing. There are actually several heat pipes built into this cooler that make direct contact with the processor — that means that the Hyper 212 is able to dissipate heat at a much faster rate. The Hyper 212 is easily a budget CPU cooler, so it is made out of cheaper material, but don’t let that fool you — the Hyper 212 can keep up with any task you put your processor to.
Cooler Master MasterAir Maker 8
Don’t like the cheap-ness of the Cooler Master Hyper 212? That’s what Cooler Master’s MasterAir Maker 8 is for — to give you something high-end that will last for years to come. It actually has some unique technology in it — the 3D Vapor Chamber. This leverages cooling efficiency to provide better and more efficient cooling to your CPU and motherboard. Cooler Master has actually equipped the MasterAir Maker 8 with eight heat pipes that make direct contact with the processor, dissipating heat at incredible rates.
Cryorig H7 Tower Cooler
Coming in as our second favorite, the Cryorig H7 Tower Cooler is an excellent performer. This one is a massive cooler that features a unique fin system for more efficient cooling. Because of that, this unique fin system is able to dissipate heat at incredible rates. If you put your Ryzen 2500X under heavy loads, the H7 Tower Cooler is going to be able to keep up the demand without a hitch — whether you’re doing high-end gaming, video editing, or programming, the H7 will keep your CPU at normal operating temperatures at all time. This is another pretty large fan, so it might be a little difficult to install all depending on your setup; however, it’s nowhere near as bad as the Noctua we mentioned earlier.
DeepCool Gammaxx 400
Coming in at first place is DeepCool’s Gammaxx 400. DeepCool sets itself apart from the rest by providing universal compatibility — that means that you can take this CPU cooler and apply it to any processor, motherboard, and case makeup. DeepCool is able to provide some excellent cooling capabilities with the Gammaxx 400, and that’s because of the four copper heat pipes that make direct contact with the CPU. Suffice to say, when your processor is under heavy load, you’re going to get incredible heat dispersement rates.
So we’ve shown you the five best air CPU coolers for Ryzen 2500X. No matter which one you choose, you’re going to be able to safely operate your computer without fear of overheating the processor or motherboard. However, if you plan on regularly putting your Ryzen chip under heavy loads — such as through overclocking — we definitely recommend going with one of the higher quality coolers out there, such as the DeepCool Gammaxx 400 or the Cryorig H7 Tower Cooler. That said, not everyone has the money to drop on a high-end cooler, so if you just need something to get by and get your computer online, any of the budget options will do fine.
