7 Best Liquid CPU Cooler For i9-9900k In 2019

The i9-9900k from Intel is a powerhouse of a processor. It’s not the CPU for the average, everyday user — it’s the processor you pick up if you need a workhorse. As with any processor that can output that much power, you also generate a whole lot more heat and need a cooling system to make up for that. Your traditional fans might not cut it under heavier loads, and that’s where liquid cooling capabilities come in.

So if you’re ready to get started in liquid cooling for your workhorse processor — specifically the i9-9900k — be sure to follow along with us. We’re diving into the seven best liquid CPU cooler available for the processor.

CoolerMaster MasterLiquid LC120E

CoolerMaster is up in first position on our list with the MasterLiquid LC120E. It actually delivers efficient cooling with a dual pump 120mm fan system. It keeps your system running effectively, even in the high load times when your processor is working its hardest.

This one from CoolerMaster has a low-profile dual chamber pump that, as we mentioned, delivers sizable performance leaps over many of the previous models that CoolerMaster has launcher. That said, the MasterLiquid LC120E is one of the best choices for doing any heavy lifting, such as in sort of overclocking.

One of the other nice highlights to the CoolerMaster MasterLiquid is the reinforced FEP tubing, which keeps the tube kink-free and the liquid flowing to your CPU. That means you won’t experience any interruption in cooling power! It actually has a RGB controller, which allows you to adjust lighting effects, too.

Thermaltake Water 3.0

If you’re looking for a cross between excellent affordability and performance, the Water 3.0 from Thermaltake is an excellent choice for your i9-9900k processor. It has a high performance copper base plate and water block, and with a 120mm radiator, your processor will stay extremely cool, even under heavy load times.

Thermaltake designed this one to have a maintenance-free style, which means you shouldn’t ever have to keep this one clean. It also has a low profile design, so it should sit in your PC well without taking up too much space. There’s a 3-year warranty on it as well.

Thermaltake actually offers its Water 3.0 cooler in a variety of different sizes — the smallest you can get sits at 120mm, but you have options for 240mm and 360mm as well.

Alphacool Eisbaer 280

Coming in at number three on our list, we’re looking at the Alphacool Eisbaer 280. This is a wonderful liquid CPU cooler for those that don’t want to spend too much money on a liquid cooling system, but also want a top performer. Liquid cooling traditionally costs quite a bit of money, but Alphacool has managed to nail the formula between performance and value for money here.

What we really like about this one is that it’s one of the few liquid cooler that don’t require any additional software to manage. Setup the drivers, and you can manage and customize your Alphacool Eisbaer 280 all from the system bios. You don’t have to muddy your computer up with yet another third-party application. As you might imagine, the Eisbaer 280 is available in a variety of different sizes — 120mm, 140mm, 240mm, 280mm, 360mm, 420mm. Price does jump the larger you go in radiator size, but the 280mm is probably the most affordable as far as the performance and value for money mixture go; however, for something like the i9-9900k, we definitely would recommend something larger.

Corsair H100I V2

If you haven’t heard of Corsair before, you’ve likely been living under a rock. As a prolific maker of gaming peripherals, Corsair is bringing some of that same expertise into liquid cooling systems for PC components. The H100I V2 is one of those cooling systems, and actually works really well. Not only that, but it’s extremely versatile, working with AM4 and LGA 1151 sockets, as well as many older sockets. Unlike the Eisbaer, you cannot adjust performance from the BIOS. You’ll have to download Corsair’s own software on your PC — the iCUE software. This allows you to make a number of adjustments, including control over the RGB colors, fan speed, and etc.

Corsair H100I PRO RGB

Next, we have the Corsair H100I PRO RGB. This is essentially a clone of the H100I V2, but with some notable changes as far as the bells and whistles go. From that standpoint, it’s certainly an incremental upgrade; however, for those that want to trick out their PC, the added ability to customize lights and make their PC silent is a godsend. Your primary lighting ability here is on the water pump itself — there’s a number of colors that you can customize it within the downloadable iCUE software. Not only that, but you can control individual fan speeds and pump speed from this software as well. If you want, you can even monitor coolant temperatures from the program. Cooling capabilities are essentially the same, but this one does have a unique Zero RPM Mode where cooling fans stop entirely when your processor is at a low temperature, eliminating noise from your PC entirely.

Thermaltake 240 Water 3.0

Next up comes from Thermaltake — the 240mm Water 3.0 liquid cooler. While this was designed for the average consumer in mind, this cooler is a workhorse. You won’t have an issue keeping your i9-9900k cool with this one. Thermaltake launched a higher-end model, the Floe Riing Cooler, which had the same cooling prowess, but had support for managing your liquid cooling from an app on your phone, as well as a bunch of RGB lighting. The 240mm Water 3.0 liquid cooler ditches both of those features to make it affordable for the average consumer; however, you still get the same high performance cooling power here. Not only that, but it’s extremely quiet, as the built-in governor does an excellent job at limiting fan RPMs.

Corsair H115I Pro

We now have yet another option from Corsair — the H115I Pro liquid cooler. Like many of the others on our compilation, this one comes in a variety of radiator sizes, but 280mm seems to be the sweet spot in terms of value for money; but once again, you’ll want something a little larger for a workhorse like the i9-9900k. The dual-fan liquid cooler is able to stay quiet, provide excellent fan performance and airflow, and that’s even under heavy loads when you’re doing some high-end gaming or demanding professional work like video editing, programming, etc. Just like our other Corsair models, you can manage and customize everything straight from the iCUE program.

Verdict

So we’ve shown you seven of the best liquid CPU coolers available for the i9-9900k. Any one of these liquid coolers will do an excellent job at keeping your processor as cool as a cucumber; however, no matter which one you go with, you’ll want to make sure that you’re snagging a larger radiator size — 280mm might not cut it under heavy loads for long periods of time, which is important to keep in mind when doing any sort of overclocking.
