LG 24MP88HV-S

LG’s 24MP88HV-S might not have an attractive name, but it is one of the best as far as a clear, detailed display goes. This one gives you Full HD clarity on an IPS panel. However, it’s equipped with something that LG is calling an “Infinity Display”, which not only brings you great, clear clarity, but extra real estate with the bezel-less design. Whether you’re watching movies, playing games, watching videos, or need a large colour gamut for design work, the LG 24MP88HV-S has your back.

With a hefty stand to hold up the 24-inches of screen real estate, it should stay sturdy on any desk. On top of that, there are a handful of different ports around the back for various display options. There are actually two HDMI ports, as well as a VGA port. Unlike some monitors today, there’s unfortunately no USB port or DisplayPort here.

HP 27-inch Business Monitor

HP’s 27-inch “Business Monitor” is one worth checking out as well. It’s biggest advantage over many of the monitors on our list is that its 27-inches in size, which gives you plenty more real estate. It has thin bezels as well, which helps you see the display more clearly and gives you a bit more room to work. Since it has those thin bezels, this one is actually a perfect candidate for multi-monitor set-ups, essentially giving you a seamless transition between all of your monitors.

This one offers you a Full HD display, bringing you beautiful visuals and clear images that will be unforgettable. It might not be the highest resolution display on the market, but it is quite clear. And since you aren’t pushing, say, 4K resolution, you preserve the MacBook Pro’s hardware for longer, since it isn’t always going to be trying to keep up.

Overall, this one is the perfect choice for anything you’re doing!

Acer H277HU 27 inch

This Acer monitor is a great monitor for gamers and the laymen alike because of how big it is. For gamers, it adds to the immersion. or In an intense round of Dead by Daylight, you’ll be able to see more hiding places than usual. If you use it for work, the size gives you the ability to have multiple programs — Excel, Word, a database program, etc — on the screen at once. This allows for multitasking and making your work a lot easier and more efficient.

LG 34UM69G 34 inch

This monitor comes with AMD FreeSync and an adjustable stand so you can make it higher or lower to fit your elevation needs. This LG monitor also comes with an HDMI port so you won’t be stuck with just USB-C. If you decide to get another PC/laptop you’ll be good to go with this monitor, as it can work for those as well. On top of that LG support is pretty helpful and will promptly help you fix or replace your monitor if you come across a problem.

HP ENVY 27 inch 4k UHD

With the HP ENVY 27-inch monitor, you won’t need more than one of these giant monitors. If you decide to go with two, it has almost no bezel, allowing you to put two of these together without losing too much immersion due to the usual borders monitors have. If you have a machine that supports 4K, that will add immersion through a better picture. It might even add a touch of realism to your gaming experience, even if you choose to watch movies/videos. They’ll definitely look way better than the regular non-4K monitors. The HP ENVY also comes equipped with mercury free LED backlighting to increase power efficiency.

AOC i1601FWUX 16 inch

This monitor being smaller than others out there makes it one of the top choices for easier portability. Should the need arise, you’ll have no problem taking this monitor around with you anywhere. To top it off, compared to other monitors, this one is relatively light. This AOC monitor also has a low blue mode that reduces the amount of blue light emitting from the screen to stop eyestrain from long periods of use.

BenQ 27 inch

BenQ offers a 27-inch 2560×1440 resolution (2K) USB-C monitor. It has some maneuverability to it that allows you to switch it into landscape mode or portrait mode. The BenQ was made with designers in mind, thus it uses sRGB Eye Care, so you don’t hurt your eyes to much from designing for long periods of time. It will look great in any other aspect due to its high resolution.

If you are using this monitor for designing purposes, it comes handy with the Dark Room mode, which makes areas of the animation or picture your drawing brighter, but not so bright that it would make it look blurry. Ultimately, it helps with picture quality a lot.

Verdict

Finding a monitor for the MacBook Pro can be a difficult task. Not only because Apple is moving away from Thunderbolt ports, but because they’ve almost entirely moved towards USB-C. In addition, you want to make sure that your monitor has a similar resolution quality as the MacBook Pro 15’s Retina display.

Meeting all three of those boxes can be difficult, but any of the seven we listed here today should do just fine. Our favorite is HP’s 27-inch business monitor, as well as the LG 24MP88HV-S with its “Infinity Display.” Both are bound to bring you some excellent quality when it comes to extending your MacBook Pro’s display!
