Managing your Microsoft Edge privacy settings
One of the features that you will enjoy while using this browser is that you will be able to change the way websites can track you across the web. Edge has an anti-phishing and anti-malware tool called Microsoft Defender SmartScreen that monitors the websites you visit. It is able to protect you from trackers that get your browsing history, cryptominers that use your computer resources to mine cryptocurrency as well as fingerprinters that uniquely identify you based on your device. Here’s how you can change the browser privacy settings.
Using your browser Privacy settings
To help you stay safe on the web you can configure the privacy settings of the browser.

Microsoft Edge privacy settings
- Open Microsoft Edge.
You can do this by clicking on its icon from the Start menu list of applications.
- Click the ellipses menu.
This is the three horizontal dots in the upper right side of the browser.
- Click Settings
This will open the Settings window.
- Click Privacy and services.
This is located in the left pane.
- Click Basic if you want the lowest security setting.
This setting allows most trackers but blocks the harmful ones.
- Click Balanced if you want the recommended security setting.
This setting block trackers from sites you haven’t visited, as well as harmful trackers.
- Click Strict if you want the highest security setting.
This setting blocks almost all trackers from all sites however can usually affect your browsing experience.
- Clear browsing data.
To do this just click on Choose what to clear then choose what data to delete and click on clear now.
- Send “Do not track requests”.
You can turn this switch on to send a do not track request to websites.
After performing the steps listed above you will successfully change privacy settings in Microsoft Edge.
