Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below it’s best to restart your computer first. This action refreshes the operating system and remove any corrupt temporary data that could be causing the problem.

This might not be a big issue for desktop users but for those experiencing this on their laptop it can greatly affect the battery life. Listed below are the troubleshooting steps you need to do to fix this problem.
Adjust the brightness from power options
- Press Windows key + R to open the Run box.
- Type “powercfg.cpl” and hit Enter to open the Power Options menu.
- Click on Change plan settings, then click on Change advanced power settings.
- Scroll down to Display and hit the “+” icon to expand the drop-down menu.
- Expand the Display brightness menu and manually adjust the values.
- You should also adjust the Dimmed display brightness, then make sure Enable adaptive brightness is turned Off.
- Click the Apply button and the screen brightness should be adjusted to the values that you previously set.

Adjust the brightness from the Graphics Properties menu
- Right-click on your desktop and choose Graphics Properties.

- Click on Search automatically for updated driver software and see whether the wizard manages to find a new version. If it does, follow the on-screen prompts to install it.

- In Device Manager, expand the drop-down menu of Monitors, right-click on PnP Monitor and choose Enable Device.
