How To Fix Zoom No Audio Problem

There are sound related problems that you might experience when using Zoom. You might not hear any sound when joining a meeting or your microphone might not be working. Here’s what you need to do to fix this problem.

Pre-requisites:

  • Restart your computer.
  • Uninstall the Zoom client and reinstall the latest version. 

Method 1: Test your audio settings to fix Zoom no audio problem

The first thing you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the speaker and microphone used by Zoom is configured correctly.

  1. Open the Zoom application.

  2. Sign in to your account.

  3. Click on Settings.

  4. Click on Audio.

  5. Choose the correct speaker on the drop down box then click on the Test Speaker button. You should also drag the volume level to its maximum setting.

  6. Choose the correct microphone from the drop down box then click on the Test Mic button. You should also drag the volume level to its maximum setting.

Method 2: Allow Zoom to access your microphone

If Zoom is not given permission to access your computer microphone then your voice won’t be heard by your team. You will need to give the app access to use the microphone from the privacy settings.

  • Click on Start.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on Privacy.
  • Click on Microphone. This can be found on the left pane.
  • Turn on the switch for “Allow apps to access your microphone”.

Method 3: Run the Windows 10 audio and microphone troubleshooter

windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter that allows you to fix the common speaker and microphone related problems. Try running this tool to fix the problem.

  • Click on Start.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on Update & Security.
  • Click on Troubleshoot. This can be found on the left pane.
  • Click on Playing Audio then “Run the troubleshooter”. Follow the on-screen instructions to fix the problem.
  • Click on Speech then “Run the troubleshooter”. Follow the on-screen instructions to fix the problem.

After performing the troubleshooting steps listed above you will successfully fix the Zoom no audio problem.
