The local group policy is a management console that allows anyone to easily manage group policy objects. Using this tool the computer administrator can for example disable computer or user settings in Local Group Policy and use scripts for certain tasks that include startup and shutdown. It’s quite a powerful tool which is available on Windows 10. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will show you how to open local group policy editor on windows 10.
How To How To Open Local Group Policy Editor Windows 10
Open Using Run box
- Press Windows key + R to open up a Run box.
- Type “gpedit.msc” and hit Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
Open Using Search bar
- Type gpedit.msc on the search bar.
- Click on Edit group policy and click the Yes button at the UAC (User Account Control).
Open Using Command Prompt
- Open a Command Prompt window by pressing the Windows key + R to open the Run box, then type “cmd” and press Enter to open a Command Prompt Window.
- In the Command Prompt window, simply type gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
Open Using Powershell
- Open Powershell by typing “powershell” on the search bar and click on Windows Powershell.
- In Powershell, type “gpedit.msc” and hit Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
Open Using Control Panel
- Press Windows key + R to open up a new Run box.
- Type “control” and hit Enter to open the old Control Panel menu.
- click on Administrative tools and then double click on Local Group Policy Editor
Open Using Settings
- Press Windows key + I to open the Settings app of Windows 10.
- Then, use the search function of the Settings app to search for “group policy”.
- Click on Edit group policy to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
Open Manually
- Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to C:\ Windows \ System32.
- Then, either locate gpedit.msc manually or use the search function (top-right corner) to search for it.
- Double-click on gpedit.msc and click Yes at the UAC prompt.
