A hyperlink in Word allows instant access to information in another part of the same document. The hyperlink can be text or graphics. Using this feature can give information to your readers without repeating the same information on different pages. There are times though that you will want to remove hyperlinks in your document. Here’s how to do it.
Remove hyperlink in Word
This will remove a single hyperlink from your document.

Remove a single hyperlink
- Right click on the hyperlink.
Choose the hyperlink you will want to remove.
- Click on the Remove hyperlink option.
This will remove the hyperlink on the chosen text or graphics.

Remove all hyperlink in Word
If you would like to remove all hyperlinks present in the document then here’s how to do it.
- Press the Ctrl+A keys simultaneously. This will select all text in the document.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+F9 keys simultaneously. This will remove all hyperlinks in the document.
Turn off automatic hyperlinks
You will notice that if you type in a web page in your document it will automatically be converted to a hyperlink. If you want to turn off this feature then just follow these steps.
- Click on the File menu.
- Click on Options.
- Click on Proofing.
- Click Autocorrect options.
- Click on the Autoformat as you type tab.
- Uncheck the box for “Internet and network paths with hyperlinks“.
- Click on the Autoformat tab.
- Uncheck the box for “Internet and network paths with hyperlinks“.
- Click on the OK button.
