Removing background of picture in PowerPoint
If you have a picture that you want to insert in your slide but only want a particular subject to be shown and not the background then you can make the necessary changes in PowerPoint. You don’t need to use a dedicated photo editing software as long as the graphics file is not a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), Adobe Illustrator Graphics (AI), Windows Metafile Format (WMF), and Vector Drawing File (DRW).
Here’s how you can do this.

Remove Background in PowerPoint
- Open Microsoft PowerPoint.
You can do this by clicking on it from the Start menu list of applications.
- Click on Blank Presentation.
This will open a new presentation that you can work on.
- Select the slide you want to put the photo on.
You can select the slide from the left pane.
- Click Insert.
This is the third tab on top of PowerPoint.
- Click Pictures.
This will allow you to insert a picture to the slide.
- Choose either “This device” or “Online Pictures” then insert the picture.
This is where the picture you want to use is located.
- Highlight the picture.
You can do this by clicking on it.
- Click Remove Background.
This is located on the upper left side of PowerPoint.
- Click Mark Areas to Remove or Mark Areas to Keep.
You can fine tune the photo further by clicking the areas you want shown or don’t want to be shown.
- Click Keep Changes.
This will finalize the changes that you made.
Editing the picture
You can edit the picture further using an external photo editor by exporting it first.
- Right click on the recording.
- Choose Save Picture as.
- Create a file name and choose the save destination then click on the Save button.
After performing the steps listed above you will successfully remove the background of a picture in PowerPoint.
