Check your computer for malware
The first thing you will need to do in this case is to check your computer for any malware. There are certain malware that can cause this problem so it’s best to eliminate this possibility.
One of the most popular tools to use in securing your computer from malware is a software called Malwarebytes.
- Go to https://www.malwarebytes.com/antimalware/.
- Click Download free version. You may be redirected to another site; follow the instructions on that page to download Malwarebytes.
- Save the installation file to your computer.
- After the download is complete, double-click the file to begin installing Malwarebytes.
- After you finish installing Malwarebytes, update its malware definitions before you scan your computer.
- Open Malwarebytes.
- Malwarebytes will generally prompt you to download and install any available updates when you open the program. To check for and install updates manually, click the Update tab, then click Check for Updates.
- On Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware screen, click the Scanner tab. The Scanner window will open.
- On the Scanner window, select one of the first two options: Perform quick scan which is recommended in most cases, Perform full scan which is used if a quick scan has not solved your problem.
- If Malwarebytes detects a threat, it will place the suspicious file in quarantine. After the scan is complete, click the Quarantine tab and review the threats Malwarebytes detected:

If you have changed the paging file size of your computer and are experiencing this problem then you should change this setting back to automatic.
- Open the Start Menu. Click on Settings. Search for “performance”.
- Click on the search result named Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.
- When the Performance Options window pops up, navigate to the Advanced
- Click on Change… under the Virtual memory
- The Virtual Memory window will now pop up. In this window, make sure that the box beside automatically manage paging file size for all drives option is checked.

- Click on MemoryDiagnostic in the left pane to have its contents displayed in the right pane.

Try to disable the Superfetch service
The Superfetch service makes your applications launch faster and improve your system respond speed. It does this by pre-loading programs you frequently use into RAM so that it doesn’t have to be called from the hard drive every time you run them.
You can do this from the services manager
- Press the Windows Logo key + R to open a Run
- Type services.msc into the Run dialog and press Enter.
- In the Services window, scroll down and locate and double-click on the service named Superfetch.
- Click on Stop.
- Set the Superfetch service’s Startup type to Disabled.
- Click on Apply
- Click on OK
- Close the Services
- Restart your computer.
You can also do this using the registry editor
- Press the Windows Logo key + R to open a Run
- Type regedit into the Run dialog and press Enter to launch the Registry Editor.
- In the left pane of the Registry Editor, navigate to the following directory: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Session Manager > Memory Management
- In the left pane of the Registry Editor, click on the PrefetchParameters sub-key under Memory Management to have its contents displayed in the right pane.
- In the right pane of the Registry Editor, locate and double-click on the registry value titled EnableSuperfetch to modify it.
- Replace whatever is in the EnableSuperfetch registry value’s Value data field with 0.
- Click on OK.
- Close the Registry Editor.
- Restart your computer.

- Right-click on the Start Menu button to open the WinX Menu.
- Click on System in the WinX Menu.
- Click on Advanced system settings in the left pane. You might be asked for confirmation of the action or your password, and if you are, be sure to provide what you are asked for.
- Navigate to the Advanced

- Click on Adjust for best performance to select it.

- To agree to this, click “Restart now and check for problems (recommended)”. Be sure to save your work first. Your computer will immediately restart.

During this process, you’ll see a progress bar and a “Status” message will inform you if any problems have been detected during the process.
