How To Open Keynote Files on Windows

Keynote is a presentation software of Apple, which is part of the iWork productivity suite of software. It is available as a free download for anyone with an iOS device and a new Mac. Creating presentations using this software is quite easy. There are however instances when you will want to open or edit your Keynote file on a Windows computer. So how can this be done? Don’t worry as we will be showing you the steps on how to open Keynote files on Windows.

How To Open Keynote Files on Windows

Convert  Keynote File To A PowerPoint Presentation

From Mac

  • Click on File.
  • Select Export To.
  • Choose PowerPoint.

From iOS device

  • From the  Keynote app, long–press on the Keynote presentation, and click on Share.
  • Select Export from the menu.
  • Tap on PowerPoint.

From the Cloud

  • Open iCloud on your browser and open the Keynote file
  • Select Download a Copy.
  • Choose PowerPoint.

Once the Keynote file has been converted to a PowerPoint file then you can now open this in Windows.

  • From Keynote, you can export the presentation into a PowerPoint document with a .ppt or .pptx extension. To do that, Select File > Export to PowerPoint.
  • If you are using Keynote on your iDevice, use the export to PowerPoint option. Create the presentation on your iPad and then email it to your work account converted to a PowerPoint file, directly from your iPad.
  • If you do not have an iPad or Mac with Keynote installed, and you received a Keynote presentation, ask the person to export the file into a PowerPoint presentation.

  • Open Keynote on your iDevice.
  • Select the presentation you want to export.
  • Tap on the 3-dot menu in the top right corner and select Export.
  • Choose PowerPoint.
  • Choose how you want to send the file. (via Mail, Drive, DropBox, etc.)
  • Finish the sending process.

  • Go to the iCloud website
  • Sign in using your Apple ID and password. Create an Apple ID if you don’t have one.
  • In iCloud, open Keynote.
  • Click on the Upload button and select your Keynote presentation.
  • Double-click on your presentation.
  • Click on the icon and Select Download a Copy…
  • Select PowerPoint.
  • After the file has been downloaded you can open it in PowerPoint.
