This can occur on a wired or wireless connection and can be viewed when you run ipconfig/all from the command prompt. When this error message pops up then it’s likely that your computer won’t be able to connect to the Internet. How To Fix Media State Media Disconnected Error
Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below it’s best to restart your computer first. This action refreshes the operating system and remove any corrupt temporary data that could be causing the problem.
Restart the router
The router is a networking device that assigns IP addresses to any device connected to it among its other tasks. If there is a conflict in IP addresses then you will have to refresh the router as this could be caused by a glitch.
- Unplug the router from the power source.
- Wait for 1-2 minutes.
- Plug the router back.

Release and Renew IP Address
If your device has a conflict IP address then you can release this and get a new IP address.
- Type Command Prompt in the search bar
- Right click on the Command Prompt application that appears then click on Run as administrator.
- Type “netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt” then press [Enter]
- Type “ipconfig/release” then press [Enter] to release your computer’s current IP Address.
- Type “ipconfig/renew” then press [Enter] to renew your computer’s IP Address.

Disable Network sharing
- Press Win+S. This opens the Windows search bar.
- Type control panel then click on the Control Panel app that appears.
- Click Network and Sharing Center.
- Click Change adapter settings. It’s the second link from the top of the left column.
- Right-click your current connection.
- Click Properties. The connection properties dialog window will appear.
- Click the Sharing tab
- Remove the check mark from “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection.”
- Click OK at the bottom of the dialog window.

Uninstall the network driver
Sometimes the problem can be caused by a corrupted network driver. To check if this is what’s causing the problem you should uninstall then reinstall this driver.
- Type “Device Manager” into the search field next to the Start menu button to open the device manager window.
- Expand the “Network Adapters” section.
- Right click on the network adapter you want to uninstall and select “Uninstall device”. This will remove the adapter from the list and uninstall the networking device.
- Click “OK” when prompted to uninstall the device.
- Restart your PC immediately.
- After the PC boots, the new driver should be installed automatically
- If you notice that your Internet connection is not working, you will need to install the driver manually.
- Go to your manufacturer’s page in order to see the list of available drivers for your operating system. Choose the latest one, download it, and run it from the Downloads folder.
- Follow the instructions on-screen in order to install the driver and make sure the adapter stays disconnected until the installation prompts you to connect which it may or may not do.
- Restart your computer.

Restore your computer
In case the issue still persists even after performing the troubleshooting steps listed above then you should restore your computer to a previous date when the issue was not present.
- Search for System Restore using the Search button next to the Start menu and click on Create a restore point.
- Inside the System Properties window, click on System Restore.
- Select the option called Choose a different restore point and click the Next button.
- Select a particular restore point you saved before manually. You can also select any restore point available in the list and hit the Next button to proceed with the restoration process. After the process is over, you will be reverted to the state your computer was in at that period in time.
