7 Best Mini Fanless PC Stick Running Windows 10

Let’s face it: most televisions don’t provide with much entertainment unless you own an internet-enabled multimedia steaming box. But even with it, many people still end up with laptops on their laps, just to browse the web or chat with friends. Wouldn’t it then make sense to purchase a single device that could serve both as a steaming box and as a full-fledged PC running Windows 10? The mini fanless PC sticks described in this article can do just that and more.

MINIX NEO Z83-4

If you’re looking for a capable Windows 10 mini PC that you can just take out of the box, plug into a monitor, and start using, the MINIX NEO Z83-4 is the one to get.

The tiny, round case hides Intel’s Cherry Trail Quad-Core processor, 32GB of Samsung eMMC, and 4GB of DDR3L memory. Performance-wise, these specifications put the MINIX NEO Z83-4 on par with most Chromebooks and budget Windows laptops. You can play 4K content at 30 frames per second, play Minecraft, browse the web, run a home web server, or use the device as an inexpensive computer for kids or casual users.

Even when pushed to its limits, the MINIX NEO Z83-4 never draws more than 10 W. When you compare it to a 200 W desktop computer, you find out that the NEO Z83-4 costs approximately $100 less per year to run. That means that after just 2 years of use, it will have virtually paid for itself.

Intel Compute Stick CS325

The Intel Compute Stick CS325 is an impossibly small fanless PC stick with hardware specifications identical to a high-end ultrabook, such as the ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360CA. Intel has somehow managed to squeeze in their excellent m3-6Y30 processor, which is a mid-range CPU with very low power consumption of just 4.5 W. It’s suitable for all office tasks, multimedia consumption, web browsing, and very light gaming. The processor has received the same score as the i3-5010U, which is quite an accomplishment given that the i3 consumes three times as much power as the m3.

Besides excellent power characteristics and capable performance, the Intel Compute Stick CS325 offers reliable connectivity via an integrated Intel 802.11ac wireless card and Bluetooth 4.2. There’s one conveniently located USB 3.0 port on the stick itself and two extra ones on the included power adapter. Most customers choose to pair the Compute Stick with a wireless keyboard like the Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 Plus, turning this inexpensive Intel-based computer into a full-fledged home media center.

AWOW Mini PC

Up first, we’re looking at the AWOW Mini PC. This runs a 32-bit version of Windows 10 and is really easy to setup — just plug into your monitor, hook up a keyboard and mouse, and you’re ready to roll.

As far as hardware goes, it’s got 32GB of storage space, 4GB of RAM, and is powered by an Intel Quad-Core processor. It’s pretty powerful, even supporting 5GHz WiFi for fast download speeds.

AcePC T6

And next, we have the AcePC T6. This is one of the better ones actually running a 64-bit version of Windows, and on Windows 10 Pro, too. AcePC’s T6 has been positioned to be the perfect business solution.

It has dual-band WiFi, supporting 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. So, you can get some really fast download speeds, depending on how fast your wireless connection is.

There’s good hardware support as well — powering the device is an Intel Atom X5-Z8350 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a whole 32GB of internal storage. That’s expandable with a microSD slot up to 128GB, but there are also two USB ports on the PC stick as well.

Azulle A-1063-AAP-1 Access Plus

Admittedly, we get a huge kick out of ridiculously small computers that consume less power than a LED light bulb. Built on the Intel Atom x5-Z8300 SoC, the Azulle A-1063-AAP-1 Access Plus is about as power-efficient as you can get. Yet, it offers the same computing power as high-end tablets, including smooth HD video playback, responsive web browsing, and convenient access to Netflix.

According to the manufacturer, the Azulle A-1063-AAP-1 Access Plus is the only computer stick in the world with an Ethernet port. When compared to Wi-Fi, Ethernet connection delivers faster speeds, better reliability, and unmatched security. The Azulle Access Plus is available either with 2 GB or 4 GB of memory. We recommend the 4 GB version, as 2 GB just don’t cut it anymore in 2017.

Azulle Quantum Access Mini PC Stick

The Azulle Quantum Access Mini PC Stick is our favorite way how to turn a dumb TV into a smart entertainment hub. This computer stick comes preloaded with the latest version of Windows 10, so you can just plug it into an HDMI port and kick back on the couch. The new Intel Atom Z3735F processor makes even more extensive multitasking possible, and the top-of-the-line Intel HD graphics card is fully optimized for high-definition multimedia consumption and light gaming.

You can even get the Azulle Quantum Access Mini PC Stick in a discounted bundle with a keyboard or with a keyboard and web camera. Because there are only around 15 GB of usable storage space on the stick, you should also get a good micro SD card.

ASUS VivoStick TS10-B017D

With most PC sticks, you need to plug in a keyboard and mouse to control the operating system. This could easily mean extra $100, depending on which brand and model you decide to go with. The ASUS VivoStick TS10-B017D with the Intel Atom Z8350 processor is different, though. It comes preloaded with the ASUS VivoRemote app for intuitive control from mobile devices. The app features remote virtual keyboard and mouse, hotkeys for media playback control, a shortcut to the Windows Start menu, local media support and voice control functionality, and more. You can run the app on all Android devices version 2.3.3 and up, and also on your iPhone or iPad.

The stick itself is very affordable, yet decently powerful. Thanks to hardware decoders for HEVC and h.265, you can enjoy all your favorite shows on Netflix or play local 4K video without any hiccups.

Verdict

As you can see, there are a lot of Windows-based PC sticks that you can plug into a monitor for an essentially ready-to-use PC. These are fan-less, so they don’t make any noise either.

Most of these are an excellent experience and cheap way to get a PC setup; however, there are a lot of other areas that you have to factor into your purchase — such as a keyboard, mouse, and a monitor, all things necessary for that Windows PC stick to operate.
