7 Best Motherboards For Ryzen 5 3600 In 2020

If you’re building your own PC out, the Ryzen 5 3600 is definitely a processor worth considering. It’s one of the more advanced Ryzen platforms out there, with support for PCIe 4.0, at least on x570 motherboards. That said, to go along with your processor, you need a motherboard platform that will last you a few years, one that you can grow with as you want to upgrade parts.

There are only a few motherboards that you can use with this processor, since the Ryzen 5 3600 is limited to the AM4 socket type, which only a certain type of motherboard has. If you’re not sure what to pick up for the Ryzen 5 3600, or even what’s out there, worry not. We’ve assembled a list of the seven best motherboards available for the CPU.

Here are a handful of our favorite options today.

GIGABYTE AB350 Gaming 3

The GIGABYTE AB350 Gaming 3 is an excellent choice for the Ryzen 5 3600, especially after you already broke the bank on a processor and video card. The Ab350 is essentially a bare bones motherboard that will run your CPU without a hitch. You’ll have room for plenty of memory, as well as some of the larger, higher-end video cards.

The AB350 is a capable AM4 motherboard for your Ryzen 5 3600 — there’s plenty of speed and performance here, and plenty of ports. The downside to a board like this is that it’s a toasty board, and there’s no way around that due to poor power and thermal support. That’s just something to keep in mind as you game on High settings or start messing around with overclocking.

MSI X370 Pro Carbon

MSI’s X370 Pro Carbon is another excellent choice for the Ryzen 5 3600. You spend a little bit more here than the AB350, but it doesn’t run nearly as hot — that’s ultimately a little more safety for your chipset, giving it more long-term support.

This is another capable motherboard that will offer you plenty of performance and features. One of the highlights of this motherboard is that GPU and PCIe SSD slots are reinforced so that you don’t accidentally break the slots when you hit them with a piece of hardware. Or, it’s a little sturdier for things like larger and heavier cards.

GIGABYTE is a popular maker of all sorts of hardware components, and is primarily known for its video cards. That said, they do extremely well with motherboards, too. The perfect option for your Ryzen setup is the B450M, which even supports Ryzen processors with Radeon Vega graphics.

You get dual-channel unbuffered memory, HDMI and DVI ports for a multi-display setup, and a couple of PCIe slots that can withstand some pretty high-end and large video cards.

And with high quality audio capacitors, this board is able to support some really good audio, not requiring you to outfit it and take up unneeded space with an audio card.

ASUS Prime X470

The Prime X470 is an excellent board that you can pick up for the Ryzen 5 3600. It comes with the AM4 socket type, so you’ll have no problem using this board with the current Ryzen chipsets. You can always upgrade your process with another AM4 type as well.

It comes equipped with SafeSlot, which is an injection moulding process that upgrades your PCIe slots to be able to handle heavy duty video cards, such as Ti models. On top of that, you get 5-Way Optimization, which helps keep your processor cool even under an overclocking load.

Naturally, this one comes with a bunch of Aura Sync RGB features, which lets you trick out the inside of your case with some really neat lighting effects.

ASUS ROG Strix X470-F Gaming

You certainly cannot go wrong with ASUS and their Republic of Gamers line of hardware. Designed with hardcore gamer and hardware enthusiasts in mind, the Strix X470 will work flawlessly with the Ryzen 5 3600. If you’re looking for top performance and speed, this one is your guy. It is, at its core, a motherboard; however, ASUS has planted some excellent overclocking features inside of this motherboard.

The company has their own own 5-Way Optimization with Auto Tuning and proprietary Fan Xpert 4 technology to automatically tailor overclocking profiles to your unique profile — this gives you maximum overclocking out of your Ryzen 7 Performance CPU. Paired with Auto Tuning and Fan Xpert 4 technology, your machine stays cool even when you’re pushing the limits.

There’s an industry leading audio channel on here as well, so you don’t have to worry about a dedicated audio card either.

ASRock X370 Killer SLI

Next up, we have the ASRock X370 Killer SLI motherboard. Don’t want to spend too much money, but looking for a great blend between performance and features? Then this motherboard is for you. It’s affordable, and still performs extremely well with the Ryzen 5 3600. You’ll get top performance out of your chipset here, even with the overclocking abilities.

There’s a plentiful IO, 12 USB 3.0 ports, and a whole four DDR4 RAM slots that support up to 64GB of memory. ASRock actually throws in support for a multi-GPU setup, giving you support for NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFire as well.

First up, and a favorite, we have the AORUS AX370 Gaming motherboard. GIGABYTE makes this board for Intel’s LGA 1151 chipsets as well, but offers it for the Ryzen 5 3600 in the AM4 socket type as well. There’s some excellent hardware and performance inside of this one, and GIGABYTE actually offers four DDR4 RAM slots here to support up to 64GB of memory.

This one isn’t a bad option for overclocking with the Ryzen 7 as well — with Smart Fan 5 technology and Hybrid Fan Headers, the AORUS AX370 is able to dissipate heat, keeping it far away from the motherboard. This is particularly neat to have when you’re using overclocking features. There’s a nice audio chip built inside the motherboard, and you’re running Gen3 PCi Express here.

These are seven of our favorite motherboards for the Ryzen 5 3600. These will work seamlessly with the chipset, and you can upgrade as needed within the AM4 platform. Do you have a favorite motherboard and chipset? Let us know in the comments below.
