Windows 10 is the latest and best version of the Windows operating system which was first released in 2015 and was made as a free upgrade to people who were running Windows 7 or Windows 8 on their computers. Although this is a solid performing operating system there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. How To Fix Windows Has Detected An IP Address Conflict Issue
Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below it’s best to restart your computer first. This action refreshes the operating system and remove any corrupt temporary data that could be causing the problem.
The main reason why you will be getting this error message on your computer is if another device on your network has the same IP address as your computer. This will cause a conflict in the sending and receiving of information which should be avoided. Listed below are the troubleshooting steps you need to do to fix the problem.
Restart the router
The router is a networking device that assigns IP addresses to any device connected to it among its other tasks. If there is a conflict in IP addresses then you will have to refresh the router as this could be caused by a glitch.
- Unplug the router from the power source.
- Wait for 1-2 minutes.
- Plug the router back.
Check if the Windows has detected an IP address conflict issue still occurs.
Release and Renew IP Address
If your device has a conflict IP address then you can release this and get a new IP address.
- Type Command Prompt in the search bar
- Right click on the Command Prompt application that appears then click on Run as Administrator.
- Type “netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt” then press [Enter]
- Type “ipconfig/release” then press [Enter] to release your computer’s current IP Address.
- Type “ipconfig/renew” then press [Enter] to renew your computer’s IP Address.
Check if the Windows has detected an IP address conflict issue still occurs.
Don’t use a static IP
If your computer is set to use a static IP then try changing this to obtain an IP address automatically.
- Press Windows key +R. In the run dialog type ncpa.cpl and Click OK
- Right click on Local Area Connection if you are using wired internet connection or Right click on the Wireless Network Connection if you are using Wi-Fi. Click on Properties in the drop down menu.
- Double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
- Select Obtain DNS server address automatically. Click OK > OK and close all windows.
- Restart the computer.
Check if the Windows has detected an IP address conflict issue still occurs.
Disable IPv6
If your computer has an IPv6 address set then try to disable this as this might be what’s causing the problem.
- Hold the Windows Key and Press R. Type ncpa.cpl and Click OK.
- Right click your network adapter and choose Properties.
- Uncheck “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” and Click OK.
