A VPN or Virtual Private Network is a connection method that adds a layer of security and privacy to you internet connection. It is commonly used by corporations to protect sensitive data however using a VPN for personal use is becoming more popular. A user for example with a VPN installed on the PC or mobile device can have an IP address from a different location thus hiding the exact location. Although installing a VPN is quite easy, there are instances when certain issues can occur. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the VPN error 806 on windows 10 issue.
What to do when your Windows 10 computer gets the VPN error 806

The 47 is an IP protocol number of Generic Routing Encapsulation and not a port number inside TCP or UDP header. This is a port that needs to be opened if you are using a VPN.

- Click Inbound Rules on the left of that window.
