There are a lot of different PC cases out there, but almost all of them require a pretty well positioned fan or a liquid cooling setup. Depending on the case and all of the components that you have to fit inside, that positioning might not be working out very well for you. Luckily, there’s an easier way to increase your cooling potential — open air PC cases. With an open frame case, not only do your PC components look a whole lot cooler, but they have more access to the open air as well, helping keep your hardware cool.

So what are the best open air PC cases? If you follow along below, we’ll show you some of our top picks today. Let’s dive right in.
Thermaltake Core P5
Coming up as our number one contender, we have Thermaltake’s own Core P5 open air case. We like this one because of its modern, black finish. Not only that, but it has four tempered glass panels that are all removable — so there’s some choice here on whether or not you want a fully open air case or something a little more closed off.
Of course, that’s not the only highlight of the Core P5 — this comes in your standard ATX form factor (so no micro ATX boards), can support video cards that are 22.4″ long and CPU coolers on the more massive side: up to a whole 7.0″ tall. That said, you’ll be able to fit all of the top hardware, in this case, no problem.

Thermaltake Core P7
Next up, we have another option from Thermaltake, this time the Core P7. This one comes in as a little pricier than the Core P5, and it has a somewhat unique design, supporting extended ATX boards. The beautiful thing about this is that it gives you a lot of extra room for adding high end components, spare parts, or even a large water cooling system.
The P7 has some of the same length and height properties as the P5 — it can support graphics cards up to 22.4″ long, and CPU coolers up to 7.0″ tall. It only has one removable tempered glass panel, but that’s because the P7 has “wings” you can open up.

Thermaltake Core P3
Thermaltake is always a perfect choice when it comes to open-air computer cases. You cannot go wrong with the Core P3, all thanks to its panoramic open-frame design. You’ll get excellent cooling power no matter how you do it.
However, you can do a couple of different computer setup designs. There’s a GPU Float bracket that allows vertical mounting options for 2.5-slot GPU solutions. The cable needed even comes with the case.

Cooler Master Cosmos C700M
Next up, we have the Cosmos C700M from Cooler Master. This works as a traditional case and an open-air case. You can set it up in a conventional way, but you can also make it an open-air case by removing the window. Additionally, there’s an expansive cable cover system, which keeps your cables routed and clean.
If you don’t want to use fans or open-air, you can use the liquid cooling system to keep your components cool as well. This one stays pretty clean looking, too.

Thermaltake Core P1
Now we’re looking at Thermaltake’s Core P1. This one is a little different than the other two in that it takes on more of a cube profile. This is because it supports micro-ATX motherboards, and unlike many similar cases, the Core P1 has a vertical mounting position. Clearances aren’t nearly as much as the P5 or even the P7, but you can still fit some pretty large pieces of hardware in here — you’ll have enough clearance for graphics cards as long as 15.0″ and CPU coolers as tall as 6.7″.

Inwin D-FRAME Mini
Next up, we have this option from Inwin — the D-Frame Mini. This one is quite unique in that it supports Mini-ITX motherboards, which are relatively rare in comparison to ATX and Micro ATX boards. The Inwin D-FRAME Mini also supports some substantially less clearance for graphics cards and CPU coolers — 13.4″ in length and 6.5″ in height, respectively. One of the bonuses to the D-FRAME is that it has more points for easy carrying, which is nice because this open frame case is 17lbs in weight!

Thermaltake Core P90
And last up, but certainly not least, we have another choice from Thermaltake, this time the Core P90. This one has some advantages of the D-FRAME Mini in that it supports Standard ATX instead of Micro ITX. However, it has some disadvantages as well, such as supporting only the smallest of clearances — graphics cards up to 12.6″ in length. However, it can hold CPU coolers up to 7.0″ in height.
This is, however, a fairly nice case. There are tempered glass panels that you can either keep in place or remove. But on top of that, the Thermaltake Core P90 has support for custom liquid cooling configurations and can accommodate radiators as large as 480mm.

Verdict
As you can see, there are a lot of different open air PC cases. Any one of these will give you that nice open frame that makes LAN parties a whole lot easier. Or, it can simply be a cool, unique look for your PC setup, with the added bonus of some extra cooling.
