Firefox Videos Not Loading In Windows 10

Mozilla Firefox or Firefox is a popular open source browser that’s being used by a lot of people worldwide. It uses the Gecko layout engine to render web pages thus making it quite fast. Although this is a solid performing software there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Firefox videos not loading in windows 10 issue.

What to do when Firefox does not play videos

Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below it’s best to restart your computer and router first. This action refreshes the operating system and remove any corrupt temporary data that could be causing the problem.

Try to disable hardware acceleration

When hardware acceleration is activated it will use your computer graphics card to help in rendering web pages. If your computer does not have a powerful graphics card then this could cause issues.

  • Go to your Firefox Options by clicking on the three bars at the top right and selecting Options from the menu.
  • Scroll down to the Performance options
  • Uncheck Use Recommended Settings which will then show you the option to disable/enable Hardware Acceleration.
  • Uncheck  Hardware Acceleration
  • Restart your browser.

Check if the Firefox videos won’t play issue still occurs.

Disable add-ons

Add-ons can enhance the features of the browser however it can also cause certain issues to occur. To check if this is the culprit you should try to disable the add-ons of your browser.

  • Click on the three bars at the top right and click on Add-ons from the menu.
  • Go to Extensions.
  • Click on the three-dots against each extension and hit disable.

Try checking if the Firefox videos not loading problem still occurs.

Clear the cache and cookies

Sometimes the problem can be caused by corrupted cached data stored in the browser. If this is the culprit then you will have to clear the cache and cookies of Firefox.

  • Go to the Options
  • From the options on the left side, navigate to Privacy and Security.
  • Scroll down and you should see Cookies and Site Data.
  • Click on Clear Data…
  • Check both options of Cookies and Site Data and Cached Web Content and hit the clear button.
  • Restart your Browser.

Try to check if the videos not playing in Firefox problem still occurs.

Enable the auto-play feature

You should try to enable this feature as this will allow videos to play automatically once they are loaded.

  • Click on the padlock on the left side of the URL and click the Arrow Button.
  • Click on More Information. This will open a new menu
  • Click on the Permissions tab.
  • From the Autoplay option, Uncheck Use Default.
  • Select the Allow Audio and Video radio button
  • Restart Firefox
