10 Best Laptop for Email and Web Surfing in 2019

The web has become surprisingly hardware demanding. The emergence of technologies such as high-definition online video, interactive web applications, and the cloud means that you can’t simply dust off any old laptop from your high-school or college days and use it as a dedicated email and web machine. It might work, but the experience would be painful. Modern, affordable laptops designed with email and the web in mind support hardware acceleration of web content, can last a long time on a single charge, and their build quality and utility are miles above older devices. That said, here are ten of our favorite laptops for quickly and seamlessly browsing the web:

Surface Laptop 2

Coming up as first on our countdown, we have Microsoft’s very own Surface Laptop 2. A lot cheaper than the Surface Book 2 — and in a traditional laptop form factor — the Surface Laptop 2 has excellent, optimized hardware to bring you speed, efficiency, and clarity for your email and web surfing. You can customize what hardware you want in the Surface Laptop 2; however, the base hardware will do just fine for email and web surfing, as well as any business applications you need to use, and even some light gaming.

Google Pixelbook

If you’re purely after some laptop hardware for email and web surfing, the Google Pixelbook will be right up your alley. Operating on Chrome OS, this Internet-based laptop will bring you excellent and smooth speeds for all of your Internet needs. The Google Pixelbook has one of the most clear displays on the market today. It’s lightweight, which makes it super portable. On top of that, it has an excellent, 10-hour battery. Now with support for the Google Play Store, you can use this laptop to download and use your favorite Android apps as well.

Apple MacBook Pro 13

You’ve no doubt heard all of the hype around Apple’s latest MacBooks. The MacBook Pro 13 brings you an almost bezel-less 13-inch display that brings you excellent clarity and detail through Apple’s own Retina technology. And with only the best hardware inside, the Apple MacBook Pro will cruise through anything you need to do in regards to email and web surfing. Not only that, but it’s excellent for use with business applications, programming, design work, and even some light gaming. The new Touch Bar at the top row of keys also adds a bunch of quick access controls to apps, music, and plenty more.

Surface Book 2

If you’re looking for something a tad bit more portable, and with better hardware, the Surface Book 2 will be right up your alley. You can outfit the device with some amazing hardware, as there are a variety of configurations that you can choose from.

On top of that, while the Surface Book 2 can operate as a laptop, the keyboard can be detached so that you can take the device on the go — in a tablet mode, if you will.

The advantage to the Surface Book 2 is that it actually has really good battery life, comes with USB-C support, and can be bought as large as 15-inches in size.

MacBook Pro 15

If you like a larger screen, then you might like the MacBook Pro 15 over other choices. It has a large display, which provides you with plenty of room for multitasking and large scale applications. On top of that, the Retina panel keeps text sharp and easy on the eyes.

The MacBook Pro 15 is really fast, too. You’ll have no trouble using the laptop for email and web surfing, but can use it for a variety of other common tasks as well — movies and TV shows, learning to code, design work, and more.

This laptop is one of our favorites for portability, too. With how thin and lightweight it is, you’ll have no trouble taking this tablet with you on the go — it takes up very little room in a laptop bag or backpack.

On top of that, the MacBook Pro 15 comes with all-day battery life, which makes this easy for on the go travel as well.

ASUS Chromebook Flip C302

The recently released ASUS Chromebook Flip C302 isn’t just one of our favorite Chromebooks on the market, but it’s also our favorite laptop for email and web surfing. For around $400, you get two devices for the price of one: a brilliant Chromebook with a full-sized keyboard and large touchpad and an Android tablet with the Full HD resolution, 10-point multi-touch screen, and the incredible power of Intel’s latest processors.

The 360° hinge allows you to use the device in a variety of ways, including laptop, tablet, stand and tent modes. This flexibility make the C302 perfect for anything from web and email to multimedia, games, and even reading. ASUS never saves money on build quality, and the Flip C302 features a tactile, backlit keyboard with 1.4mm of key travel and large, smooth touchpad to prove this. USB Type-C is the feature, and, with this laptop, you’ll be able to embrace it with two USB Type-C ports and one extra micro SD card slot for your memory cards.

Samsung Chromebook Plus Convertible Laptop

Samsung’s Chromebook convertible laptop shares many similarities with the ASUS Flip C302. They both can be used either in the tablet or laptop mode, both are built for the Google Play Store, both have strong touch support, and both are powerful enough to support some pretty serious web browsing with dozens of open tabs at the same time.

There’s currently one big reason why you should wait before you spend your money on this laptop: an upgraded version is right around the corner. Samsung calls it Chromebook Pro, and it will feature a stylus, 2400×1600 LED touch display, CPU from Intel, and USB Type-C connectivity, as well as some other goodies. Of course, it will be more expensive than the Plus model, but it will almost certainly drive the price of the Plus down. If web and email are all you want to do, wait just a little longer and get the Samsung Chromebook Plus. On the other hand, if future-proofing is your thing, the Pro model is the one to get.

Lenovo 110s

Lenovo excels at building no-frills laptops that satisfy all needs of average users who use computers just to browse the web, stay in touch with friends and family members, and occasionally enjoy YouTube or Minecraft. With its astonishing price of just around $160, the Lenovo 110s is a fantastic compact laptop that you won’t regret buying.

It comes with Intel Celeron N3060 processor, which is a power-efficient processor designed for web browsing and basic computer use, 2 GB of memory, 32 GB of internal storage space, 11.6” HD display, and 2-cell lithium battery. Part of the deal is a 1-year subscription to the personal version of Microsoft Office 365, making the laptop perfect for students on a tight budget.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4

In many ways, using the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 just for web and email wouldn’t do justice to this incredible machine, but that’s not to say that it isn’t perfect for these things. The Surface Pro 4 combines the versatility of a laptop and tablet in one sleek package.

The integrated kickstand allows you to enjoy movies and online video comfortably, the detachable keyboard removes the pain associated with typing on touch displays, and the unique stylus unleashes limitless creative possibilities. Given the build quality of the Surface Pro 4 and its excellent performance, the basic model is actually surprisingly affordable, and the most expensive model should easily satisfy even the most demanding professionals.

Samsung Galaxy TabPro S

The TabPro S blurs the line between laptops and tablets. Its slim size and lightweight form axllow you to carry it with you everywhere you go, and the included smart protective cover will make it look as good as new for a very long time.

Samsung never disappoints when it comes to their displays. The Galaxy TabPro S comes with a 12” touchscreen that’s big enough to replace a laptop yet small enough for mobile entertainment. As one of only a few tablets on the market, the TabPro S can stream Xbox One games, allowing you to take your gaming wherever you want. Because it runs on Windows, you have access to hundreds of thousands of applications, ranging from simple games and utilities to a full enterprise-grade office suite.
